1: If no medical assistance, to reduce dislocation: distract femur on a downward force and try to put hip back into socket
2: Non-weight bearing with support – no weight on injured leg for 4-6 weeks
3: Start to walk without support as pain allows from 6 weeks onwards. Try not to limp, otherwise use one crutch to assist walking
5: Once cleared by medics begin Lie on back with knees bent, and lift bottom into air. Hold for 10 secs
6: Step ups onto step and back down again, without letting pelvis drop side to side and don’t let knee turn inwards
11: Wall squats. Hold in position as long is comfortable
14: Until fatigued, side step in squat position
4: Put the injured leg into a good alignment and use equipment to hold the leg fixed in place and then transport to hospital if possible

12: Stretch quadriceps, hold for 30 secs if comfortable
11: Wall squats. Hold in position as long is comfortable
14: Until fatigued, side step in squat position
8: Joint mobilisations – lateral hip distractions Patient lies on back, leg lifted to 90 degrees at hip, place both hands around top of leg and pull sideways while pt flex/ext hip. 3 x 1 min mobs as pain allows
9: Joint mobilisations – distraction Leg out straight and clasp just above knee and pull away from body in small movements 3 x 1min sets
12: Stretch quadriceps, hold for 30 secs if comfortable
